Project's context and challenges

VPK Group produces sustainable packaging such as recycled paper, corrugated packaging, solid board packaging and cores and edge protectors. VPK Group was an existing customer of Econvert with reactors being installed at their joint-venture location Blue Paper in Strasbourg and the VPK Oudegem and Alizay sites. All Econvert reactors at the other VPK sites were performing as promised, and thus Econvert was contacted to implement anaerobic wastewater treatment combined with biogas desulfurization and biogas utilization at the VPK Corex Board Soustre site.

Solution

Econvert designed, engineered and delivered an Econvert-EGSB®. To remove H2S and re-use the produced biogas in the existing steam boiler, an Econvert-Dsulph® and a complete biogas line were installed. All equipment, internals and tanks were supplied by Econvert. By installing a state-of-the-art anaerobic treatment plant VPK reduces energy consumption and operational costs while improving effluent treatment.
