This partnership brings together NSI’s extensive wastewater treatment process knowledge and project delivery experience with Vortech’s patented VPA™ system, which uses cyclonic flow to bring water to air in a fundamentally different way, improving aeration and mixing performance. At a time when the water industry faces stricter discharge and emission requirements, rising energy costs and increasing pressure to optimize existing assets, the VPA offers a robust and reliable solution, combining high oxygen transfer efficiency with low energy consumption and stable biological performance. As such, the VPA™ technology has become an integral part of NSI’s global portfolio.
Vortech Water Solutions was recently selected as one of the winners of UpLink – World Economic Forum and HCL Group’s Water Resilience Challenge, highlighting the international relevance and scalability of its aeration technology and reinforcing the momentum behind this collaboration.
VPA™: an advanced approach to wastewater biological treatment
Developed using advanced vortex dynamics, the Vortex Powered Aerator stands out for its high aeration efficiency, significantly lower operational costs, reduced emissions and flexible integration into both new installations and brownfield upgrades. Installation of the VPA™ can be carried out while the treatment process remains operational. In retrofit applications, the technology has demonstrated energy savings of up to 30%, depending on site-specific conditions and system configuration, compared to conventional aeration systems, while maintaining stable and reliable biological performance. These benefits have already been demonstrated in multiple projects.
Within NSI water solutions portfolio, the VPA™ strengthens and complements NSI’s aerobic biological treatment offering. NSI will lead the commercial introduction of the technology in Europe and key global markets such as Paper & Pulp and Dairy. Through this partnership, NSI further strengthens its position as a global provider of energy efficient water solutions.
Together, Nijhuis Saur Industries and Vortech Water Solutions will work to provide complete wastewater treatment solutions that meet the evolving needs of customers across Europe. Both companies also see the partnership as a platform for ongoing collaboration, with the combined offering expected to improve further over time as the relationship develops and both teams continue working together to further revolutionize the wastewater treatment process.
