"Every project combines technology, people and impact. That’s what gives my work meaning. "
From process engineering to global consultancy
Yannick officially joined NSI in 2020, after several years of close collaboration on a project basis. He started his career as a Process Design Engineer, designing water and wastewater treatment solutions tailored to customer needs across different industries.
As projects became more complex and international, his role naturally evolved. Beyond technical design, Yannick took on a coordinating role between NSI teams in France and the Netherlands. In 2022, he became Coordinator i‑CONSULT, followed by his current role as Team Leader in 2024.
What stayed central throughout this journey was the connection between technology, people and practical impact.
One of the most important lessons along the way has been learning how to manage expectations.
“Being aligned with both colleagues and clients is essential,” Yannick explains. “When everyone works from the same understanding, you can really build the right solution together.”
What is i‑CONSULT?
i‑CONSULT is NSI’s brand for water consultancy services. It brings together services that support clients in making informed decisions when facing complex water challenges.
This can start very early in a project, for example during concept development, feasibility studies or technology selection. It can also play a key role during the operational phase, by supporting troubleshooting, optimisation and performance improvement throughout the asset life cycle.
The focus is always on translating challenges into clear, actionable advice, grounded in NSI’s technology portfolio and practical experience.
Being close to customers within Lifecycle Services
Within NSI Lifecycle services, i‑CONSULT operates close to customers and their day‑to‑day reality. Yannick and his team regularly work on site, listening carefully, asking the right questions and turning operational challenges into practical solutions.
“Being close to our customers makes a real difference,” Yannick says. “Only then do you fully understand what is happening in practice and what is really needed.”
That closeness also brings responsibility. Whether the topic is water reuse, PFAS treatment or complex pilot installations, Yannick takes ownership. He connects stakeholders, guides multidisciplinary teams and ensures that solutions deliver measurable results.
His work requires a constant balance between technical depth and flexibility, adapting to different industries, technologies and international project environments.
Creating impact across water cycles and industries
What motivates Yannick most is creating impact that goes beyond a single project. Improving how water is treated, reused and valued is what gives his work meaning.
From innovative water reuse pilots to strengthening NSI’s global consultancy offering, his projects contribute directly to safer operations, more sustainable industries and resilient water cycles.
“Every project is different,” Yannick explains. “But when you see how a solution improves customer processes and reduces environmental impact, you know why the work matters.”
Proud moments and key achievements
When asked about achievements, Yannick highlights the design and pilot installation of an innovative water reuse process for Industriewater Eerbeek. The project connects eight unit processes and explores a new approach to brine valorization.
He is also proud of:
- The growth of NSI’s portfolio in PFAS treatment and destruction
- Building the i‑CONSULT concept from the ground up
- Developing a strong and collaborative team that supports NSI entities worldwide
“These achievements show what is possible when expertise, technology and collaboration come together,” he says.
Collaboration and problem solving at NSI
As NSI continues to grow internationally, Yannick sees an organization that is constantly evolving. At the same time, the foundation remains strong: protecting water resources through innovation, impact and a problem‑solving mindset.
What keeps his work interesting is the diversity. Different industries, stakeholders, technologies and societal challenges ensure that no two days are the same.
International collaboration is a key part of that experience.
“I am always impressed by the professionalism and skills of colleagues across the organization. There is a shared passion for water, no matter where you work.”
Why NSI?
Yannick describes NSI as an organization with a lot of energy. Sometimes dynamic, sometimes unpredictable, but always full of opportunity.
“That energy leads to ideas, innovation and real impact, for people as well as for the environment.”
His message to new colleagues is clear:
If you are passionate about water, engineering or manufacturing, NSI offers diverse work at the forefront of practical and meaningful innovation.
