Your challenges

Strict discharge regulations and high discharge fees
Discharge regulations of wastewater in the sewer system are becoming stricter, and the discharge fees for discharging wastewater are continuously increasing. Econvert-UASB® reduces pollutants in the wastewater, enabling compliance with regulations while lowering your carbon footprint.
High wastewater treatment costs
Aerobic treatment systems often require significant energy and high sludge handling costs. Due to low aeration needs, minimal sludge production, and reduced chemical consumption, Econvert-UASB® offers lower operational costs.
Rising energy costs
Energy costs are continuously increasing, and there is pressure to adopt renewable energy. Econvert-UASB® converts wastewater into biogas, which can be used to generate electricity, heat or fuel and can be used on-site to become more self-reliant in regards to energy.
Sustainability and carbon footprint goals
There is pressure for companies to become more sustainable and to achieve certain sustainability goals. Econvert-UASB® helps reduce emissions and allows companies to recover energy, helping you toward reaching net-zero targets or green certifications.
Do you want to know how our innovative wastewater treatment and biogas desulfurization solutions can benefit your business?
How does it work?
The process
The wastewater (influent) is evenly distributed at the bottom of the Econvert-UASB® reactor, enabling the full tank volume to contribute to the COD and BOD removal. The wastewater flows with 1 m/h through the sludge bed, consisting of anaerobic biomass, which degrades the COD present in wastewater and produces biogas. The 3-phase separators at the top of the reactor separate the treated wastewater, granular sludge and biogas. Enabling the granules to stay in the reactor, biogas to be re-used and the treated wastewater (effluent) to be discharged or sent to further treatment or re-use. The produced biogas will be collected in the gas caps and discharged to a gas engine, boiler or flare by the central gas line.
Our positive impact
A proven and established technology

Turning waste into renewable energy
The Econvert-UASB® generates biogas from wastewater, which is captured and can be used as a renewable energy source. The biogas can be used to generate electricity, heat or fuel. Additionally, the biogas can be upgraded to natural gas quality biomethane which can be injected into the natural gas grid.

Reduction of carbon footprint
Anaerobic treatment lessens the release of harmful gasses into the atmosphere, due to capturing methane and converting it into energy. While energy is produced, wastewater is cleaned which reduces energy consumption needed for after treatment, further reducing the carbon footprint of the system.

Low operational costs and maintenance needs
With less sludge production and no need for aeration, anaerobic treatment systems are cost-effective and easy to operate. In some cases the excess sludge can be sold.
