Project's context and challenges
Concorp, a well-known Dutch confectionery producer behind brands such as Autodrop, Oldtimers, Fisherman’s Friend, Heksehyl, Vitalp and Skittles, faced rising wastewater discharge costs and expected even higher water board charges in the future. To reduce these costs and improve sustainability, Concorp chose to treat its wastewater anaerobically. In order to avoid high CAPEX investments, the company chose an Econvert Anaerobic Rental solution, with the possibility to purchase the installation after several years.

In order to reduce their discharge costs, Concorp opted to anaerobically treat their wastewater. To avoid high CAPEX investments, a rent-to-buy agreement was made for the Econvert Anaerobic Rental reactor. An 8-year contract was agreed, with the possibility of purchasing the installation after 6, 7 or 8 years. In 2025, after 6 years of successful operation, Concorp decided to purchase the system. The Econvert Anaerobic Rental has significantly reduced Concorp’s discharge cost while also generating biogas, which is being reused in their boiler to save energy costs.
