Crescendo® is your all-in-one solution for evaporating liquids, scrubbing hot gases, stripping, cooling, and more. Its secret? Smart fluid dynamics. As liquid flows down an inclined plate, it creates a Venturi effect—generating a slight vacuum through openings on the plate’s surface. This draws in gas, forming long, stretched bubbles that mix intensively with the liquid. The result? Maximum contact time for heat and mass transfer. A low-pressure fan boosts the process, making Crescendo® highly efficient and versatile for gas-liquid interaction.
How does it work?
The liquid flows down along an inclined plate and generates by cavitation a slightly negative pressure in the downward direction, protruding openings that are present on the upper surface of this plate. The negative pressure causes the gas to pass from underneath the plate into the flow of liquid as long stretched bubbles. Those bubbles stay long enough in contact with the liquid to become saturated with vapour.
This patented method provides a very intensive gas/liquid contact, offering an optimal exchange of components at minimal energy input. Even waste energy e.g. from heating, cooling and ventilating may be put to good use.
The unique features of the system are, first of all, the very low negative pressure in the perforations, caused by the fast-flowing liquid film. This allows a small ventilator to push an enormous gas flow through the water film, with a very low supply pressure, creating an extreme large exchange surface between the gas and the liquid. Secondly, there will be no contamination/fouling of the plate surface, not at the bottom side (which will remain dry), and also not to the upper side, in which contamination is prevented by the high degree of turbulence across the entire plate surface. Crescendo® requires little maintenance.
Thickening of brines
The use of membrane technology, both in wastewater treatment and in the production of drinking and process water, has expanded enormously in recent decades. Membrane techniques, however, do not offer a complete solution, because a residual product remains by means of a saline concentrate stream (brine).
Crescendo® treats a brine stream with an incoming TDS with high concentrations of salts. The design capacity of the installation is based on a daily capacity, while the base-temperature of the brine and the operational temperature is ambient temperature or a slightly elevated temperature using potentially available waste heat.
