Our sustainability pillars

Sustainability means taking concrete actions driven by three key pillars.

These principles guide every strategic choice we make, aiming to generate lasting value for both the environment and people.

By reducing water impact, promoting recycling, and enhancing resource recovery;

Driving sustainability through water innovation and circularity

#MissionWater: our challenge, our opportunity

At Sodai, safeguarding water resources is not only a global challenge — it is a major opportunity for innovation and sustainable growth. Every day, we commit to reducing both our own and our clients' water footprint, strategically addressing water scarcity, pollution, and waste.
Our mission is to give water the value it deserves: by protecting, recovering, and reusing it. Beyond our core business of designing and managing water treatment and purification plants, we promote a circular model that focuses on lifecycle cost reduction, resource and energy recovery, and the elimination of negative environmental impacts.
Through advanced technologies, digitalization, and a transparent, measurable approach, we work to close the water loop and build a more resilient future. We spread awareness, support clients, and engage stakeholders and communities in a shared journey — this is our #MissionWater. A positive change model for all industries, and a powerful lever to innovate and truly make a difference.

Our journey towards NetZero

Reducing our environmental footprint is a strategic priority. We adopt efficient technologies, responsible processes, and innovative solutions, acting at every stage of our operations to optimize resources and minimize waste. Every action that reduces pressure on natural resources contributes to a greener future.
On our path to NetZero, we have set a clear, measurable decarbonization strategy. We regularly calculate and monitor our carbon footprint — including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions — and implement concrete actions to reduce it, following major international standards (GHG Protocol, SBTi, ISO 14064). We use energy from renewable sources, implement offsetting practices, and foster continuous improvement.

As part of our commitment to transparency and measurable sustainability, Sodai publishes an annual Sustainability Report and GHG Report, including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, water footprint analysis, and progress on the UN SDGs.

At the heart of our climate strategy is a conscious corporate culture, shared across the entire NSI group. We firmly believe that the climate challenge can only be tackled with a joint, structured, and transparent commitment.

Diversity and Inclusion Journey

At Sodai, we believe diversity is a strategic asset and inclusion is a concrete responsibility. Our commitment to fostering an inclusive culture stems from the conviction that only fair, respectful, and open workplaces can generate innovation, well-being, and sustainable growth.
We actively promote gender equality, work-life balance, merit recognition, and the appreciation of differences. The UNI PdR 125:2022 certification for gender equality is the result of a structured journey — and also a starting point to evolve daily towards a more equitable, participatory, and conscious corporate culture.
Inclusion is not a goal, but a way of working. That’s why we value each person’s unique contribution, believing that only together can we generate positive impact — inside and outside the company.

Shaping a circular water future

Water recycling is no longer a choice, it is a necessity

In a world increasingly vulnerable to water scarcity, recycling water is no longer optional — it is an urgent, non-negotiable necessity. At Sodai, we implement advanced water management technologies and practices that go beyond reducing consumption. We focus on closing the water cycle through continuous recycling and maximizing reuse.
Every drop counts. That’s why we constantly invest in solutions that optimize the entire water cycle: advanced treatments, digitalized processes, and resource recovery from wastewater.
Water is a finite and precious resource, and we are committed to enabling every company, sector, and region to adopt responsible, sustainable practices.
Water recycling is one of the keys to building a future where industrial development and environmental protection are not just desirable but essential. We aim to transform wastewater into value — reducing waste, lowering environmental impact, and generating new utility — in line with a regenerative and circular vision.

Sustainable Water Cycle: a mission, not just a project

For Sodai, the Sustainable Water Cycle is much more than a project — it is a guiding vision. In a world where water resource management is among the most urgent environmental challenges, we have chosen a systemic, innovative, and responsible approach based on four key principles: saving, recycling, reusing, and optimizing water.
Our goal is to create a virtuous cycle, capable of recovering and enhancing every drop of water, reducing waste, and delivering measurable benefits for the environment, industry, and communities. Every solution we offer — from plants to technologies, services to management models — is designed to foster a culture of circular and regenerative water management.
With advanced technologies and circular economy practices, our model translates into a concrete commitment to protecting natural resources and building a sustainable, resilient, and shared future.

The 4R Philosophy

Reduce, Remove, Reuse, and Recover
At Sodai, we are committed to the 4R philosophy — our operational compass for sustainability. These are not just guiding principles but concrete actions that translate into daily projects, technologies, and solutions aimed at closing the water loop and delivering measurable impact.

By following the 4R philosophy, we optimize resource use, reduce pollution, and promote more sustainable, circular production models — generating real value for the environment, businesses, and communities.

4 R principle, Reduce, Remove, Reuce, Recycle

Reduce

Reducing the consumption of natural resources, raw materials, and energy also means cutting operational costs and environmental impact. Every design choice we make focuses on process optimization, waste reduction, and system efficiency.

Remove

We eliminate critical pollutants — such as micropollutants, resistant bacteria, suspended solids, and COD — through advanced treatments, improving water quality and reducing environmental pressure.

Reuse

In a world facing resource limitations, reusing water is imperative. We apply circular economy principles to reintroduce treated water into the production process or for new uses, transforming waste into opportunity.

Recover

We recover water, energy, and raw materials from industrial effluents, returning value to what was once considered waste. Recovered resources are reintegrated into production processes or enhanced in other contexts.

Awards
