Project’s context & challenges
Riventa carried out blower performance testing at a wastewater treatment works to identify energy, maintenance, and efficiency improvements across it's aeration system.
The site operated three 75kW twin-lobe blowers supplying aeration to two treatment lanes. Aeration accounted for 44% of total site energy use(£92,600/year).Blower 1 produced 9% less flow while consuming 13% more power than other and struggles to meet dissolved oxygen setpoints during peak demands.

replacing 2 blowers
"Blower 1 could not achieve its dissolved oxygen set point during periods of peak loading and would run at maximum speed for extended periods, suggesting that the process was not in control at these times. "

Solution
Riventa used FREEFLOW portable equipment to measure blower performance and identify inefficiencies. Recommendations included replacing undersized blowers, fitting a thermal mass flowmeter, and performing immediate maintenance to reduce losses.
