Project's context & challenges

The Lactalis factory in Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Romania, operates under the name Raraul, a well-known producer of high-quality dairy products, widely distributed across Romania.

In 2022, the Lactalis Câmpulung factory faced the need to upgrade its wastewater treatment facilities to comply with increasingly strict river discharge standards imposed by local authorities. The existing rented flocculation/flotation system was no longer sufficient to meet these requirements. To accurately estimate the civil works and technology investments required for a turnkey wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), Lactalis initiated an engineering order with Nijhuis. Due to NSI’s strong local presence, long-term relationship with Lactalis, and proven technical expertise, Nijhuis was awarded the design contract and later the full-scale engineering and equipment supply project.
