Nijhuis Saur Industries acquires Sodai to expand its leading position in industrial water solutions in Italy.

With the acquisition of Sodai, a leading industrial water operation & maintenance player in the energy and transportation sector in Italy, Nijhuis Saur Industries (NSI) is expanding its footprint in Europe and its portfolio of innovative technologies, sustainable solutions and added-value services delivering their clients water-on-demand. Besides leveraging Sodai’s leading role in industrial Operations and Maintenance (O&M) solutions, strong synergies are expected from the cooperation with Milan-based Unidro and other NSI companies in delivering smart solutions to address the growing demand for sustainable water use, energy and resource recovery.

Marzia Chiesa, CEO of Sodai; “During the last 30 years Sodai has become one of the leading Italian environmental engineering and water management companies, mainly operating in the purification and treatment of industrial process and wastewater. Our company offers a range of integrated environmental services based on our specialized know-how and extensive experience combining Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) and O&M solutions, providing a unique value proposition to our clients optimizing their efficiency and reducing their environmental footprint.

Key references are; the design, build, operate and maintain contract for the largest zero liquid discharge wastewater treatment plant deriving from the production of second generation bioethanol at Versalis di Crescentino, which is operated 24 hours a day all year around. The asset management contracts for Trenitalia and Trenord which Sodai has operated since 2004 and the design and build of a desalination plant in Texas with a capacity of 40.000 m3/day for the production of potable and industrial water. Besides asset management we also successfully develop innovative technologies.

For example, blockchain to trace the waste supply chain, our Deepestâ technology, a unique and proprietary membrane solution applied in anaerobic digestion to separate mainly organic and nitrogen fertilizers, and our game-changing Titanium membranes which offer top-level performance and unique properties which are being successfully applied for example in the pharmaceutical industry.

As a team we are proud to join NSI and collaborate with Unidro and the other NSI group companies, sharing the same vision and purpose on water and becoming part of a successful and strong business to help our existing and future clients to solve their ever-demanding water challenges both today and in the future.”

Sodai to boost recurring revenue with almost 70 industrial O&M contracts

Menno M.
