Nijhuis Saur Industries (NSI) won the contract in April to build and operate the effluent treatment plant for the future CARBIOS site at Longlaville in Meurthe et Moselle.
The plant from CARBIOS is the world’s first using revolutionary enzymatic depolymerisation technology, marking a major step forward in the transition to a circular economy for plastics and textiles. The plant will have a capacity of 50kt/year of prepared waste when operating at full capacity, equivalent to 2 billion bottles.
The NSI team in France worked with CARBIOS for 18 months on this project, initially carrying out laboratory tests using samples from the CARBIOS industrial demonstrator in Clermont Ferrand. This stage made it possible to define the most appropriate technical and economic solution for treating waste from the future site.
CARBIOS has chosen NSI for its ability to react quickly throughout the project and to offer a comprehensive CAPEX/OPEX solution. The NSI team will support CARBIOS for 8 years in the operation of the future industrial effluent treatment plant on their #missionwater purpose and closing the water loop.
The foundation stone was laid by CARBIOS on 25 April in the presence of numerous industrial partners and regional councilors.
